Ellis took 14 wickets from nine appearances in BBL|15. A hamstring injury kept him out of the finals, with Ben McDermott taking over the captaincy during the Knockout and Challenger.

McDermott remains an experienced deputy, but Ellis is the confirmed captain going into the new season.
